More info at Quakecon.org I move that we get as many of the rantshack people up here as everyone needs to experience this. Seriously, you have been told 5 months ahead what could you possibly already have planned? So, get your pcs upgraded, your games installed, your vacation requests turned into work, and pull some money together to split a room and food. This shit is going to be awesome. Every possible PC part and there's this hairy guy who got his chest wax on stage and he got a $5000 PC in return. A lot of seminars and presentations, 3 days worth. John Carmack is always there, ramble on about his intelligence, his cars and his rockets. Now that id is a part ZeniMax Media, Bethesda is at QuakeCon too. WE SAW TODD HOWARD. THAT MAN IS AMAZING AND GIVES AMAZING PRESENTATION AS WELL AND HE HAS A HOTASSFACE. But I digress. They gave out a shit ton of stuff but sadly last year I only got 4 overly large tshirts and a quakegirl tanktop which is nice. You need people who cannot be easily embarrassed in order to scream at the people who are passing out free shit, we didn't do that that's why we only got tshirts... since my friend is tall. The LAN was iffy in my opinion. You cannot connect on Steam, only in offline mode and Steam likes to patch before QuakeCon because they hate us, so a lot of people cannot get on Steam they end up tethering, so it's a good idea to patch before you're there. There wasn't a lot of servers on tf2 or l4d, some css, but a lot of people were playing cod4. There are more games they played there but I was only into steam ones. Lots of people were playing single players too, which I don't understand, YOU'RE AT A LAN. You can also leach things, I didn't do that when I was there but there are lots of shit but I fail to see the need to be there if you're just leaching stuff but sadly two of my friends were there for that reason. If gaming girls are your thing, they have QuakeCon girls who are well... they're okay, lots of make up but they dress up slutty! There are dealers room with lots of shit on display, demos to play, things they're selling. BAWLs is always there. nVidia, amd, steelseries, ventrilo, etc. etc. There are raffles going on too and give aways and tournaments. Last year the ultimate raffle prize was a mustang car, the guy who won end up selling it because he couldn't afford the tax. Every time you go in the LAN section they have bag checkers who are checking if you're stealing other people's shit pretty much, and some bagcheckers just skim through your shit without really checking, or some people didn't even get their bags checked. I understand they don't have enough volunteers but still. None of my stuff disappeared so that's good I suppose. I thought it was fun, the early registration thing was a bitch though, the line was long and it was late at night but it's not too bad. I'd like to pitch in on hotel rooms if you guys want. I think the best part is- if someone is being a tard in game or on mIRC, you can literally beat them in person. But it was a fun experience and I am definitely going back again! Ok but seriously, Quakecon is essentially a 4 day long lan party with 8000 people. Quake is played alot I'm not going to lie to you, but so is Call of Duty, Dawn of War, litterally insert any game here and someone will play it. Some people even set up a custom WoW server so you could do PvP. There is also a shit ton of files being hosted, last year it almost got to 2 petabytes of files being shared, so if downloading that much porn at 10MB/s doesn't interest you then....I guess fuck you. Last year, Josh and I got to see Brink and RAGE before any other public audience, we got to listen to the lead designer on the Elder Scrolls 3 and 4 give a talk, we got to see Quake finals, we got to go to a Q and A with the CEO of ID. So yes there are talks and they are all very good. There is also a vendor area where you can buy anything from a new Alienware, to a new Steelseries mouse, play the newest games (Global Agenda was there last year), win cool ass prizes, get t-shirts, and buy bawls for 20 bucks a case. Honestly if you don't come you are going to regret it, I never want to miss one and I want to share it with as many people as possible. You fuckers should come, if you don't...well have fun at a not cool thing....yah.

Also, the DC++ had some amazing shit on it. I managed to find a bunch of Electrical Engineering/Math textbooks and some pretty obscure music that I liked (PORN).
