Welcome to the Laser Party. We are made of sex.

You, on the other hand, are the embodiment sadness and are typified by your longing to matter. This amuses us. Fret not, however, for you can easily overcome this condition. In order to become the human concept of Joy, as we have done, you can do one of two things. The first is to undertake a journey to Ancient Ademadegon and return with the the 3 heads of the Awesomegret which roosts in the Crystal Caverns of Caramel Colors. Or, two, register on this site. They are basically the same thing, really.

Alright, this thread isn't debating the existence of God or God's role in humanity.

However, evolution. Believe it or not, the sheltered existence that is the Mormon college (BYU) actually teaches about evolution. It's becoming increasingly evident that it can't be ignored. Though, it was more taught with a stand point of natural selection, and leaving the class to determine their own thought on human existence.

Which leads me to my question, how accurate is carbon dating? Isn't that how we are dating fossils and things to be millions of years old? If yes, how come we never stumble on anything that is like... 4,000 years old? Why is everything exponentially huge? I guess because the Earth is so old, but dang.

Carbon dating is only used for short-term dating (about 50 thousand years), so it's really easy to get an exact date using that method. But no, we don't use it for anything really old. As for not stumbling on anything within 4k years...like...what kind of stumbling are you expecting? That's a thin film on the grand scale of the Earth's life (about 4 billion years). It's pretty hard to find anything notable buried within only four thousand years.

Then what are the other dating methods?

Various elements. Uranium and Potassium are also popular for dating. Uranium takes a fucking long time for its half-life (the isotope Uranium-238 takes 4 billion years, making it pretty much the oldest isotope used for dating), while Potassium is for mid-range. You can use any element, really, just as long as it has a known half-life.

Most everything that's recent we already know about. Since the dinosaurs were a long time ago (I'm not looking up the actual dates I'm lazy) it's gonna be way more scarce to find their fossils, and has a higher likelyhood of finding crucial pieces for known skeletons or even pieces to an entirely new species. Not to mention the whole meteor business fucking up the Earth.

Um... duh? Magikarp are the babies, they turn into gyrados if they live long enough to grow up. But, you know, people and predators eat them or they are too dumb to live... just like real fish.

Shit you guys, I think its pretty safe to say I'm the only true pokemon master here.
