The other pictures give off a feeling of incredible isolation. Having people in the shot kind of breaks that. Also, if you're going to continue on the "isolation" theme, can I make a recommendation? Try to get some good shots of buildings or parks or otherwise occupied places when they're covered in fog when no one's there. For some reason, fog = isolation to my mind.

Buttttttt, I won shit! YAYY! I won Best Manipulated Image, and got a $25 gift certificate to an art store. and then I won Best Self Portrait Photography for and got $50 and thennnnn, I WON FIRST PLACE in Photography They did the suspenseful thing of going from honorable mention to first place, and by the time they did that my heart was beating so hard lol. I didn't believe it for a split second haha, because I never win cool shit like that. I won $125! Soooo, $200 in one night. Pretty awesomeeeeeeeee.

Interesting story about the self portrait: I almost didn't put that in that category. When I made the labels, made them all at once and printed them; I didn't really remember what was what but I knew the titles lol. We have to specify if it's traditional, self portrait, manipulated, or thematic series. Anyway, when I was pinning them to my board, I noticed the label for that picture said traditional and was like o shi-. I knew I couldn't reprint it, and I was debating whether or not it was unprofessional to scratch it out. My thought process was, "Errrr dunno ... eh whatever I don't think it's going to win anyway" Scratched it out and put self portrait and BAM $50. lol when the girl was like "For best self portrait photography, for her picture titled 'Scream'..." I was like, what now? lol. I loved standing near my pictures (I took up a whole black pin board that's like 6 ft high and 8 ft long, and 1/4 of another side) and watching people's reaction. I had the Snail picture up (in my signature, that one) and I was watching this guy looking at it. First he was like hm? -furrows eyebrows in contemplation- hm... -leans closer to read label- oh! haha. IT WAS SO COOL. And then watching people looking at the knife and eye picture. People were relieved when they read it was manipulated haha. ALSO, the recognition. I was going to curl up in a little ball and cry (when I got home) if I didn't win anything. Also being recognized as a photographer makes me feel nice. Like, a few people knew I was good but since it was professionally determined that I am, indeed, good it gives me a lot of credibility ... if this makes any sense. LIKE, I'm typified as nice-quiet-smart girl but I'm also photographer girl too.
